what good leaders say

Everyone knows that after good teaching, good leadership is at the heart of improving student achievement. On my travels I have had the opportunity to talk with several school leaders who I believe are setting an agenda for schooling in today’s world which all leaders should take note of. They are diverse in their experiences across the k-12 continuum. Yet they have several key similiarities. They…

  1. are “curious” people, that is, they are not afraid to ask questions. This is an essential ingredient for good leadership.
  2. are prepared to take risks in what they do and are brave enough to reflect on the outcomes of their initiatives.
  3. have a passion for what they do. At heart they love the owrk of schooling and want to do the best they can for the schools in which they work.

Listen to John Locke, Luke Sumich, Mike Phillips and get inspired!

  1. I agree with Greg, Marco has a great message, and the message is not that complicated. Make learning relevant, meaningful and applicable. If we ask this question before we launch in to any learning activities with children we know we are heading in the right direction
