Cooltown

Recently I visited HP’s Centre for Innovation called Cool Town. It was a fascinating place and one of the innovations that struck me was the design of the future office. These are works in progress as HP explores the boundaries of how people are going to work in a knowledge economy. I think it’s interesting that the design is minimalist and mobile, edgy and exciting; stretches the boundaries of how we might work. I’m not sure how practical it will be but it’s good to see this thinking. As educators, it leads me to ask the question of how we are stretching the boundaries in school design and the tools we need to do the work in schools??

  1. From my experience there are only a few people leading the stretching in Australian schools. Most others are either trying to stretch solid materials or see no need to stretch. A “clayton’s” athlete comes to mind!!
