In the last month, I’ve had the opportunity to met some innovators and leaders. In May, I had the pleasure of introducing Jimmy Wales at an education.au seminar in Sydney. Jimmy is still causing controversy but the wiki is a powerful tool in the democratisation of learning. I think he delivers an important message to teachers everywhere. The capacity to construct, edit and publish knowledge is at the heart of 21st century learning and web 2.0 and beyond capacities.
I was also in Melbourne for the iNet Australia 2007 National Conference and met one of the keynote speakers –Professor Yong Zhao. Yong’s understanding of the rapidly developing Internet and its impact on learning and teaching is outstanding. It’s well worth a visit to his website. He is sensible, clear and articulate about the possibilities.
